cleaning

yeah, yeah…I know what you are thinking. “Cleaning??? Who posts about cleaning??” Well, maybe not many people but I just have to share.

So after cooking last night I was looking at our stove-top and realized that the burners were looking kinda gross. I decided that today I would clean them out. So this afternoon I start the task of pulling out the heating elements and the drip pan things underneath (i do not know their technical name). So I put the drip pan things soaking in some soapy water and decide to pull up the whole top of the stove (did not know it could do this..Andrew told me last night) to see if it was dirty or not. And oh my heavens! It was indeed dirty. I am actually embarrassed to admit how gross it was! I’m hanging onto the fact that two boys lived here before I did and really did not do much cleaning AND  a family with two small kids lived here before the two boys and I do not think they were very clean either. So…all that to say I had to scrub pretty hard to get it clean.

So after I clean the underneath I start scrubbing the drip pan thingies..and man that was a job! I won’t go into details but let me just say, the water was no longer clear when I finished.

45 minutes later and I now have a very clean and good looking (as good looking as a stove top can be) stove top!

A little piece of advice: If you don’t want to go through all that trouble and work just pretend that you don’t know the top of the stove can lift up. You will feel much better about the whole situation. ;)

Hey….I cover my drip pan things with foil. That way when you go to clean them you just have to replace the foil! Just a thought so you dont have to clean as hard next time.
