Friday evening Andrew got a call from his friend and co-worker Tom. Tom and his wife Jane have season tickets to A&M football. They were not going to be able to make it to the game Saturday so they wanted to know if Andrew and I would like to go. And of course the answer should be obvious….we said yes! We had actually been talking about wanting to go to a game, and this was the perfect opportunity.

This was our first A&M football game together so that was pretty neat. And this was our first game to sit on the other side of the stadium…and if anyone knows about football games in Aggieland, if you are on the student side you do not sit. You stand the entire game. So I mean we literally got to sit….and it was lovely. We were around some really fun, enthusiastic Ags who made the game interesting.

Upon arriving in College Station we went and ate at Wings ‘N More…a favorite place to Andrew and me. I mean, you can’t go to College Station and not eat there. It is just so delicious. I was feeling adventurous and tried the boneless wings instead of getting the old standby, chicken strips. They were good, but I admit that I really missed my chicken strips and honey mustard.

After dinner we headed over to our parking lot. Along the way we got to see and experience all the tailgaters. And oh my goodness! Those people do it right! They have their huge tents, big smokers, food galore and…get this…flat screen TV’s!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. They sit out there, set up their generators and satellite dishes and watch other games. Crazy people, crazy!

The game was fun, a little nail biting at times. I peppered Andrew with questions, hoping that I wasn’t annoying him. He assured me that I wasn’t. The only bad thing about the game were all the bugs! They were everywhere. And worse than that, they would dive bomb your face. I had several try to make a home in my hair….thankfully, none stuck around.

All in all, it was a great Saturday! Thanks Tom and Jane for the tickets!

Oh, the fried goodness.

Whoop!

So this three day weekend was so wonderfully amazing. Andrew and I had the chance to hang out with each other, rest and be productive. I love being productive, but I also like me some resting!

Here is a rundown of our weekend:

On Friday Andrew had a guys night and I had a girls night. The girls got together at Janae’s house for some fajitas and games. We had such a great time! I hadn’t seen some of those girls in a while so that was really nice. We joked that the boys were over at David’s place giggling, telling secrets and having pillow fights. Oh man, I really amuse myself sometimes!

While the girls were at Janae’s the boys were over at David’s place grilling, playing poker and setting up Fantasy Football stuff. I guess our idea of what they were doing was a little off. According to Andrew they had a great time.

Saturday was a day to be productive. We actually slept in til 10:00. We talked at breakfast about how we can’t remember the last time we had slept in that late…and after that conversation we took our vitamins, went on our daily walk and then sat in our rockers (cause apparently we are old folks now). But seriously, it was so great to sleep in. We then went to wonderful HEB and spent the rest of the afternoon working on different stuff. Saturday evening was our date night.

By now, I’m sure you all know that we are big Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives fans on the Food Network. Well, the other night we were watching a new show and they went to a place in Houston. We were thrilled! We had been waiting so long for him to come to Houston. So, Saturday for dinner we decided to go there….Lankford’s Grocery. Apparently they are know for their big, greasy hamburgers and fries. And let me tell you, I love me some big, greasy hamburgers! So, we set off, ready for our yummy dinner, GPS in-tow. As we are driving along and “almost there” Andrew and I start to realize that where we are does not look right. We follow the GPS and it takes us to Post Oak by the Galleria. After driving around for a little bit we both decide that we are not in the right place. At first I am thinking that our trusty GPS has failed us, but Andrew, being oh so determined decides to try one more thing. He types in the name of the restaurant, finds a new address and we are off!…Again!

About 20 minutes later we arrive at Lankford’s Grocery. Yay! Hooray! We did it…..wait a minute! Could it be? On a Saturday??? The place was closed y’all! You can only imagine our disappointment. We were shocked that a restaurant would be closed on a Saturday night. After our shock and disappointment died down, we decided to pick a new place to eat. By that time, I was so hungry I could eat my shoe, and MAJORLY had to use the bathroom! I didn’t care where we went, as long as it had a restroom and food. So….what’s the next best thing to a big ol’ hamburger?….Texas Roadhouse. Yum. Needless to say, our dinner was delicious.

After dinner we came back home to watch a movie, Duplicity, and just chill.  I was not a big fan of the movie, but Andrew liked it.

Sunday was the usual, Life Group, church, lunch, relax, work, dinner, movie. Wonderful.

Monday was our day off! Hallelujah! We decided to make homemade bread (compliments of Dana’s bread starter). I think I will dedicate a whole post just to the bread. It’s just that good. Then I baked a pecan pie for Andrew to celebrate his great summer semester. After the homemade bread and pecan pie I decided I might as well put on my pearls, high heels and do some vacuuming…I might as well look the part right?

It was a wonderful weekend. I must admit, I was very sad to go back to work today. I guess all good things must come to an end.

This morning, as Andrew and I were enjoying a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and coffee , he made a comment that I haven’t blogged in a while. Of course, I immediately had to start defending myself, coming up with as many reasons as possible as to why I haven’t made any new posts. But truthfully, what it really comes down to is that I am EXHAUSTED. These last two weeks of school have been killer. Once I get home all the energy I have left (which isn’t much) is spent on cooking, making lunch, and then hanging out with Andrew. By about 8:00 I feel completely wiped out. So….on this wonderful three day weekend, I am making some time to post. I know all three of my readers are rejoicing.

Last weekend Andrew and I made a trip down to Port Neches to visit my family and celebrate my sister’s 29th birthday. It was a great weekend. We got to sit around and veg Saturday and then went out to dinner and over to Kelli’s house for birthday cake and presents. I miss my family alot, so getting to spend a weekend with them is always exciting for me. Plus, being in a smaller town is so relaxing. The pace is so much slower than Houston and I always enjoy that when I am there.

This weekend Andrew and I are relaxing, getting some work done, and spending some quality time together. I love three day weekends….I wish they would happen more often. I will post more from the weekend later!
